Implementing the Plan.

Next Steps.

The Eyre Peninsula Regional Drought Resilience Plan sets out a proactive framework to strengthen the region’s ability to prepare for, manage, and recover from drought and adapt farming practices to align with changing weather patterns. Here’s what’s happening next and how you can get involved.

1. Implementation Planning

We’re developing a detailed Implementation Strategy to bring the opportunities identified in the Plan to life. This includes:

  • Identifying the right partners to lead and deliver projects—a mix of government, private, community and not-for-profit organisations.

  • Exploring funding opportunities, including through the Future Drought Fund, industry contributions, and other funding streams.

  • Prioritising collaboration to ensure local farmers, communities and local government are involved from the start.

2. Leadership and Governance

The Eyre Peninsula Drought Resilience Advisory Group will continue to:

  • Coordinate project funding applications and delivery.

  • Track progress, share learnings, and stay across emerging challenges and opportunities.

  • Seek additional expertise as required.

3. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning

We’re committed to transparent monitoring and evaluation to ensure our actions deliver real benefits. This includes:

  • Tracking progress and outcomes through the Regional Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Guide.

  • Adopting an adaptive learning approach—reviewing what works, learning from experience, and refining projects as we go.

  • Conducting biannual reviews to assess the impact of the Plan and adjust as needed.

  • Sharing results with communities and stakeholders, building trust, and demonstrating the value of ongoing drought resilience efforts.

This program is jointly funded through the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund and the Government of South Australia.
